Mixer taps.

I always move the mixer bit so that the water doesn't flow directly down the plughole, but is afforded a few extra milliseconds of life by hitting the sink surface first. This is because it's always struck me that water requires so much preparation and distance to get it to the tap, and has such a short life, that prolonging it as I leave the tap running is in some way better.

Quite, quite mad but logical to me.

Has it been a while since you er felt the contact of a lady?

You do know that the plughole doesn't lead to some kind of matter destroyer don't you? The water just goes back to whence it came.

I once could have been a millionaire.

Had a big square sink in the phot lab when I used to be a cartographer.

When you turned on the high tap it always splashed hitting the flat sink surface.

I tried alsorts , rags , cups , sponges etc etc until eventually discovering an upturned scrubbing brush stopped the splashback. For three years I used this method everytime I had to fill that sink.

2 years after that anti splash mudguards were made compulsory on HGV's using that exact technique.

Thats my tap and water story.

I get annoyed with Mrs Orb(s) if she wears trousers/jeans. Trousers are for men. It really gets on my nerves. I know it shouldn't.

I also line things up.

Anyone else try to get the centre line of the remote pointing at the centre of the TV?

No?

I think the nurse has been skimping on the pills...

Also, I've just noticed the front keyboard edge is aligned with the screen, and the second keyboard is aligned with the first :wibble:

On a similar note, if I'm using one of those old-skool showers that pops onto the bath or sink taps... when I'm mixing the hot and cold to temp, I swish the shower head back and forth, as if somehow this will make it mix quicker...

I used to always count stuff when I was younger. On long car journeys, I used to count lamposts and white lines!

When making tea or family/friends/colleagues I always order the cups in alphabetical order by drinker.

Unless I do it in reverse alphabetical order if I'm feeling dangerous.

More OCD than irrational though.

Similarly, we made the mistake of fitting a Belfast sink in our kithchen. Turning the taps on for a split second leaves the floor soaking.

I order the cups by the brand or picture on the cup, linking it to the person somehow. It helps that people tend to get free, branded cups from their work.

yes and so does my Dad - don't know if it's come from both of us liking to build things, but we're both constantly eyeing up surfaces that could / should be parallel to check - annoyingly the wall behind my monitor isn't square or true, so eyeing up the left side of the monitor with the wall reveals a 5 deg odd slope outwards at the top of the wall, whilst the other side is spot on parallel. Very annoying.
