Any ideas? I have a meeting in Germany tomorrow. I know at some point in the last 2 weeks it was in my pocket an I thought "Oh, I'll take it out of my pocket and put it [in the location which I expect it will still be in]."
I've checked my drawers at work and it's not there.

Can't you just use your Photo ID driving License instead of the Passport?

Have a look down the sofa cushions for your passport..

Last time it happened to me I managed to get a same-day replacement, paid a lot for the privilege though!

You wil have put it somewhere 'safe'. There is a good website somewhere that breaks down the art of finding stuff is lost. In summary, slowly, methodically and well organised, rather than the headless chicken approach that a lost passport warrants!

Where do you put loose coins when you take them out of your pocket ?
Where do you put cheques that people give you to you ?
Where do you put your camera when you get home ?
Where do you put your ipod ?
Where do you put your work ID card ?
Where do you put plane/train tickets ?

etc.

You will probably find it in the last place you look. Unless you give up looking, in which case it won't be there.

HTH.

What about checking the drawer in the kitchen, you know, the one that gets filled with take-away menus, lightbulbs, scissors and batteries.

your OH has accidentally thrown it away with all the other 'rubbish' on your shelves but just won't admit it. its going to be a trip to the passport office, a lot of money and a ton of inconvenience. she will never admit its her fault and you will spank the company plastic on your trip just to make you feel a little better.

or that might be that happened to mine......

I've got one of those! literally, all it contains is menus, lightbulbs, a pair of scissors, some batteries and a random piece of plumbing plastic that i'm not sure where it belongs but i dont want to throw away

We got one too. It's where the missus likes to keep dead batteries just to annoy me...
