For a few hundred years we've used the phrases 'I love it', 'I like it' etc perfectly well.

And then for some reason everyone says 'I'm loving it' and 'I'm liking it'.

Why? Is it a spin off of the MacDonalds advert?

I think mcdonalds "I'm loving it" is taken from "I'm liking that, or I'm liking this" which is just a current trend.

I have been liking things on and off for a few years.

McDonalds advertising has been 'loving it' for at least two years, so it's hardly current.

What really gets my goat is their (McDonalds) use of the lower case "i" - "i'm loving it"

That's due to the inherent inferiority of those who regularly gorge on their "food"
