whilst wearing rose tinted spectacles and mixing metaphors for all I'm worth but....

Is it me or are TV Theme tunes a lot less memorable and less classy than they used to be. Think back to the days of Taxi, M*A*S*H, The Rockford Files, Magnum, Hill Street Blues and so on and so forth. For goodness sake even Minder had a half decent theme tune.

Anyway as you were.

I think the brain gets less receptive with age. I can still remember the car reg nos of my neighbours from 18 years ago, but don't know their current ones!

When it comes to opening credits nothing beats a Granada smashing through a blue-tinted shop window, bloke with a naff perm doing Tae-Kwon-Do, a crew-cut SAS wannabe bench-pressing twice his own body weight, and a grumpy old Jock git from the Great Escape, all to the sound of some Shaft-style "wickee-wah-wah" ........

"Dumm-dumm-da-da-da-da-da-da---dah dum dum!"

The BBC has/had some very good/memorable theme tunes.

Ski Sunday, cricket/TMS, tennis etc.

And the greatest of all - Grand Prix.
