According to Alistair Darling, the effects of the recession will be eased as jobs are created by big London projects such as the 2012 Olympics and the £16bn Crossrail project.

Whew! So that's all right then.... Or not?

It's too fking late. They should have done worthy projects like Cross Rail when the economy was strong.

Instead they pissed money up the wall creating thousands of non-jobs, consultative bodies, advisory tanks, st, wk, bks.

Now, it's time to borrow the country into oblivion and pay it back by taxing us to the eyeballs when the next 'boom' comes round.

To me, prudence has only ever been a st name for a girl.

Milton or JM?

For years this gumment has been telling us that you can't cure a problem by throwing money at it. Unless of course it's a banking system, in which case all you can do is throw money at it...

Considering all the workers on the construction projects will be Paddies or Sausages, I really can't see that making too much difference.

JM.

Spend you're way out of a recession. By spending on public projects.

Only it doesn't work.

Ask Japan.

Didn't Keynes also suggest lowering taxes to encourage spending?

Would that be the same wonderful Keynes as responsible for the 1970s stagflation?
