I quite fancy a little short break between Christmas and New Years eve, was thinking 27th-30th.

Basically a couple of questions- firstly will most of the tourist attractions etc actually be open during this period or will everything be shut.

Secondly, any reccomendations on where to go. There will be two of us, and I don't want to spend too much, and for the same reason don't want a destination where it will cost a packet to do anything or eat and drink. I realise that anywhere hot will cost a bit to get to, and waste a lot of time travelling, so I think a city/european destination would probably be best.
(I've only just started working and cleared my student overdraft, so don't have too much cash to play with, just fancy escaping the UK for a couple of days.)

Thanks.

Tell me about it!

However I've got some prof exams in early December so I can't use my holiday before then. So I had to use it around Christmas or lose it. ]

If I can't find something which is decent vfm then I might wait until Feb or so then go for a week somewhere then.

Easyjet have started a sale this morning - 25% off their flights, so you may find you can get something a little cheaper than you were expecting. What about somewhere like Barcelona??

Go away over New Year - pick your flight dates with EasyJet carefully and you can still find them cheaply.

Me and Mrs Bluebus used to do this regularly, when there were just 2 of us: we'd go to wherever was cheapest to fly to and we hadn't been before.

Oslo and Palma de Majorca were both nice. One was very cold, one was pleasantly t shirt warm. I'll let you guess which was which.

I was thinking about going to South Africa this christmas, looking at the prices has put an end to such stupid ideas.

The trick is to go to a country that doesnt celebrate Christmas. We are going to Morocco on Christmas eve and coming back on the 1st of January. No more expensive than going at any other time.

I'd recommend Barcelona if you can stretch to it.

Brilliant city, will be sunny (but prob 12-15C) so not sunbathing weather, but pleasant enough for wandering round the city and seeing the sights.

I'm offski to Cancun. Leaving on the 17th, returning on the 28th...fooking expensive. Ah well, perhaps superman Brown will help me out.
