I've been putting off getting a new bathroom fitted for the 7 years I have been in my house.

My motto has been that as long as water comes out of the shower head and goes down the drain then its fine.

Problem is, amongst other things water has stopped going down the drain.

Frankly the whole thing is horrible but I still cant bring myself to spend a packet on getting a new one fitted so I thought I'd give it one last "deep clean" to see if I can get another year or two out of it.

All the normal Mr. Muscle household cleaners are rubbish, I need something that will properly kill all the limescale, water marks, and mould that has appeared over the last couple of weeks.

Any sugestions? I'm thinking some evil chemicals might do the trick but not sure what to get.

I'm also planning on using rain-x on the glass surfaces as thats supposed to work quite well according to another recent thread.

Cheers

ETA would investing in a steam cleaner be a good idea?

I wont do it for him but here is a womans suggestions....

Harpic Duraguard limescale remover works brilliantly on my toilet and other surfaces that are really bad with limescale but be careful on metal surfaces as it does mark it permanently.

Vinegar in hot water will remove limescale from showerheads etc or pur the vinegar directly around the tap base or onto tissue wrapped around the tap to remove limescale there. Would need to leave it a few hours to work and possibly repeat.

Jif on tiles works the best IMHO, as does clearn bleach on the grout to bring it back to white. Use a thick toilet bleach and use the spout to run along the grout, leave a few hours and rinse. Dont use a coloured bleach as your grout will become that colour...

A product called " Vanisol". It will eat thru limescale in about 3 seconds. Do NOT get on plastic loo seat ( it will melt ).

Have you ever cleaned your bathroom?!?!?!?!?! yikes

If not, that's pretty disgusting.

I've no idea how people can live in a house with a dirty bathroom or kitchen. It's two of the areas of the house I keep cleanest and give a scrub-down every week.

Good tip for mould. Buy some Tesco Value thin bleach. Spray it on with a spray bottle of some sort. Leave for an hour or so and rince off. Does wonders to killing it off. Will clean up stains also, but not limescale

Open the window though as it gets everywhere and nasty pasty on the lungs.

Biological washing liquid is good as well.... plug in bath, add good dose of liquid, fill bath with warm water. Leave for a few hours. All grease gone, plus the pressure of a full bath will help clean out the pipes.

Cilit Bang Grime & Lime!

Gets my motocross bike bike lovely and clean after not washing it for a few weeks, so I'm sure it could handle a bit of scale and mould...

And leave the RainX until AFTER you have cleaned the glass surfaces; it's not a cleaner itself

How on earth have you expected yourself to be clean if you are attempting to clean in dirty facilities?

Forget everything you have heard before this post......What you need is KILROCK-K.

You can get it in B&Q and its lethal, basically, you use it to de-scale kettles but just pour it neat on limescaled chrome plug surround, loos, tile grouting, work it in with an old tooth brush and it with get rid of all limescale.

However, it gives off some pretty nasty vapours so open the windows and be careful & don't mix it with anything else, it'll probably kill you!

That's the very stuff I was going to recommend. It's great as a limescale remover, but use caution when using it...

It's one of the few domestic chemicals I'd say actually use gloves & goggles when using - you really don't want it in your eyes...

my suggestion is use force.

hire a bead blaster and blast clean your bathroom.

If your going to do it you may as well do it properly and in a manly manner.

If not, hire mrs Ramirez to do it for you.

You could argue that the limescale is clean...
