I know this is my first post and its not going to be the best. I have been watching the forums on here for a while and the question I have I believe to be a good one to post here to get me the answer(s) I need.

Okay here goes. I'm looking for some support from somewhere but I just cant find anything on the internet. As a child I was sexually abused and its now come to my attention that it needs addressing as its effecting me in all manners of ways, I wont go into any details but its effecting my relationship for one and my day to day life. I'm rambling but please can someone tell me where to go, where can i get support?

To clarify I'm an adult and not a child.

Ask your local BiB for the sex crimes/child abuse department and they will have lots of contacts.

Could your GP give you a referral?

Speak to your doctor. If you don't have one, register with one ASAP.

They will be able to refer you to someone to talk about it with.

You need to speak to the police first and foremost.

CC expect some piss taking, the title could have been better worded. But there will be some genuine advice.
Contact local Bib,or speak to your Doc who could point you in right direction.

I'm really sorry to hear your plight, I can't help directly but can give 2 pieces of advice.
1) Search on the internet for support groups.
2) Don't post here, you are lining yourself up for some really crass responses and some heavy duty humiliation.
If you can handle that you will find some decent people on here who can point you in the right direction!

Sorry to hear about this. It is good that you've come to realise it does affect your current life. That is the first step on your path to a better future. I would recommend seeking out a Emotional Freedom Techniques practitioner. Can work very well (read "effectively") for such matters. It isn't just a talking therapy that makes you a regular source of income for a therapist for the next 10 years...

This course of action may not help you at this time, I'd try and put yourself first, then consider any legal implications as the court process is long and harrowing and may not give you the required resolution.

You need to stop the cycle of your past influencing and controlling your future.

As others have suggested, speak with your GP, they will be able to refer you to someone.

You'd hope not for something so serious.

As mentioned, I've looked upon PH for a while so even if I do get some crass responses I'm ready to ignore them. But thank you shadowninja.

If you speak to your Dr or Practise nurse they will give you advice on where to go for help. The main thing is that your ready to come to terms with it and get help. I really feel for you. I'm also glad that no one on here has lowered the tone. If you want to pm me and tell me your area I'll see what i can find out for you through work. I have to do this sometimes for people i look after.
Whatever happens good luck sweetheart

to CC:

That's one giant and very positive step that you've already taken for yourself!

There can't be too many people here on PistonHeads or anywhere else who could have even begun to write what you've written here.

Well done for saying all you have said - you obviously have balls of steel and a depth of personal strength that you've barely begun to tap into as yet.

Why isn't there a smilie to show huge appreciation of great bravery???

heck, these guys will just have to do:

bow . bow . bow . bow . bow . bow . bow . bow . bow

all the best from XXVIII
