Not even the man flu - I've got full on flu - started last night when I got in from work and within 2 hours I had a temp of 40 and was a complete mess

Am now spending all day in bed - so annoying - any good tips to feel better? Everything aches

Sleep, lots of sleep - and damp bedclothes (sweat) - you'll lose weight, have no appetite etc ...

Just rest.

Just been through it - lost 20lbs.

yes

Full flu - posting on PH would be the last thing on your mind. More like "OH GOD SO COLD..run to toilet, throw up..OH GOD SO HOT..run to toilet.." repeat for 5 days

I had this all last week, nearly died but I just about made it through. Close call, phew!
The only enjoyable bit was standing next to people i don't like and passing it to them biggrin

OK, OK.

Paracetamol & Ibuprofen staggered every 2 hours* (although don't exceed max 24 dose). They are anti-pyretic -keep your temp down. Replace paracetamol with Solpadeine (or generic co-codamol) if your head/throat/ears etc are really sore, (still contains paracetamol so don't take any on top of co-codamol).

Keep hydrated.

Get rest.

Be patient.

I'll be over in 20 mins to interfere with you when you're unconscious.

ETA
  • Take 1000mg Paracetamol, then in 2 hours take 400mg Ibuprofen, then in 2 hours more paracetamol, then 3 hours later ibuprofen and so on. Not both at same time every 2 hours.

Try this West Indian remedy given to me by a work colleague. Far better than the Lemsips of this world, its packed full of natural antibacterial goodness.

I swear by it, it really does lesson the symptoms, draws out the infection and hastens recovery:

2 fresh lemons, both cut into eighths
1 whole garlic bulb. Peel all individual cloves and crush
1 large fresh chilli, cut into smallish pieces
A generous knob of fresh ginger, peeled and crushed

Put all ingredients into large saucepan, add 3 pints of water.

Bring to boil, then simmer for 1 hour with the lid on.

Strain liquid through a fine sieve and drink.

Just remember, you'll have garlic breath afterwards so keep a toothbrush handy. wink

Not 'flu. You've never had 'flu, or you would know the difference.

Bad cold = what you describe.

Proper influenza = wishing for death or at least unconsciousness rather than having to suffer what you are going through. Unable to function in any normal kind of way. Would not lift a finger to prevent winning lottery ticket from blowing away through bedroom window. Certainly not posting on PH!

True story coming up....

When I was at school, my mate was off sick with the Flu.
I think every man knows that when you are in bed ill, the only enjoyment is multi-wks.
Well, my mate was banging out about 3 a day and was collecting his "reward" in a pair of boxer shorts lying next to his bed.
All of a sudden his Mum came into his room to collect his dirty laundry.
She went to pick up the boxer shorts. Quick as a flash, my mate, realising they were literelly glistening from all the man fat, grabbed the shorts, and blew his nose in them as to disguise the "snot".
He said his face was covered in his own munk.
There you go.
