I sold a pair of brand new Diesel jeans through Ebay on the 5th October for £57. As I have a low feedback score of 14 and don’t have more than 10 detailed feedback ratings, Paypal decided to hold the funds in my account until one of the following occurs:

The buyer leaves me positive feedback or 21 days pass without a dispute, claim, chargeback, or reversal filed on the transaction

Now the buyer left me with positive feedback on the 7th October but Paypal have not yet released the money. I have called them 3 times and sent numerous emails but all I get told is my money will be released in 24/48 hours, which has not happened.

I’m not in a rush for the money but I’m pissed off with Paypal as it states in there T&C’s that the money would be immediately released after either I receive positive feedback or 21 days has passed without a claim.

Is there anything I can do? Phoning them and sending emails doesn’t seem to work.

I dont use Paypal but what right do they have holding your money under any circumstance? Isnt it just a tool to ensure the passage of money is transparent and fair... i.e. the cheque doesnt bounce?

What? Paypal is an instant transfer. It is just another way for them to earn. SIMPLE!

I hate paypal. I stopped using ebay because of all their bullst carry on. Absolute fkers for clawing back money if a dispute happens with very little investigation and terrible for getting back to you.

It’s crazy. I have a verified business account with them which I’ve had since 2003.

They say the hold is because my Ebay account doesn’t have enough feedback so they put a hold on transactions over £50 until I get positive feedback from the buyer!

Problem is with Ebay, you have no real other way of collecting payment..... Unless you have a credit card terminal?

Nope – don’t have a CC terminal. The thing is I could only offer Paypal as payment on the item as it was a ‘high risk’? item due to all the counterfeit gear on Ebay.

I have 2 ebay accounts one with 1400 + feedbacks and one with <100.

The <100 gets the payments held by paypal, the other one doesn't. Thing is I only have 1 paypal account.

Difficult if you make a living selling on ebay.

They also lie about the protection you get from them, they will only return your money if the sellers account has money in it. Strange enough, most scammers empty their account.

Get a credit card terminal if you plan to make a living from it.

the only way they should be able to do this is if they force buyers to leave feedback, they dont so shouldnt be allowed to hold your money.

another thing that REALLY annoys me with ebay is they only allow certain people customer support.

with a phone number.

i also have 2 accounts, one is for the business where we throw unused stock on for a penny, the other is a personal one where i recieve lots of crap through the door after a night of booze.

one is allowed to talk to ebay the other is not.

here, the number, should you wish to actually talk to somone 020 8080 2105

I would get in contact with the FSA, and let paypal know you have AFTER you've started proceedings.

I used to love ebay / paypal, but it's gone so far up the stter it's beyond redemption.

I have 2 ebay accounts as well – personal and business. I didn’t realise my personal ebay account with the low feedback was still linked to my business paypal account so its kind of my own fault really. But they should have released the money by now it’s been over a week since I got the positive feedback.
