Martin & co Lettings
Discussion
In an industry like lettings where margins are particularly tight, now that every sales agent in the country has moved into lettings to try and keep their heads above water, I'd avoid like the plague.
If, however, you have experience, contacts etc, go for it but don't bother wasting money on a franchise, just do it yourself.

We are a letting agents, and every tom dick and harry estate agent are jumping in as the sales are dead. Trouble is they are all doing stupid commission rates which are unencomical to get the business. Even then we have had 2 EA who did a bit of letting go bust. If, however, you have experience, contacts etc, go for it but don't bother wasting money on a franchise, just do it yourself.

Lettings take a long time to come on stream and pay any decent money. Once its there its quite stable. - or it was, getting a bit worried the larger ones arnt moving.
In the last 2 weeks the avaialabilty of new tenants has dried up particulary for the larger houses ie £1000 +. Small one are fine.
I think you will see more and more larger houses available and not shifting and thus the LA who are into the big houses will suffer and lay off staff.
