Cats and rabbits - can they be friends?
Discussion
We're looking at getting a kitten to make this house into a proper home but have a few questions before we look into it properly.
I'd love a British Short Hair (blue, but tabby if OH gets his way) and have read that they are docile and very reserved - sounds fab!
But how would it get on with a house rabbit? The bunny doesn't have a nasty bone in his body, is about 3kg (a little less) and stretches out to about 3 feet (apparently its good to match the animals up for size). He doesn't bite unless he doesn't think you're doing a good enough job stroking him or he wants to get past but can't be arsed to go around you. apparently its good to match the animals up for size)
How would you go about introducing different species, and how would you best make sure they are both happy with their living arrangements.
And how do you choose a good cat, and how much will one be?
Thanks

Our lass used to have a rabbit and cat, the rabbit used to chase the cat around the garden, trying to bite its tail. the cat is still here, the rabbit had to go, it was a viscious little fker apparently! i guess the moral of this story is, get a male cat it may stand up to the rabbit, females tend to be small and the rabbit will probably bully it!! Hope this helps!
Our 2 cats are now 14 and we got 2 rabbits 4 years ago. After the initial 'let me get it..' attitude from the cats, they get on fine. Most of the time the cats ignore the rabbits, but occasionally the rabbits chase after the cats - especially our timid female although they only want to be friends.
The aggressive rabbits mentioned above are all probably un-neutered.
