Bastard VAT man.,..
Discussion
if you send it without the stamp - they will fine you for not sending it on time. They are scum of the lowest order.
PS - anyone else noticed the SCAM FRAUD SCUM s
t around the first year 12% beneficial rate etc?
It is billed as if you agree to not claim any VAT back on small things for the business you get a 12% rate.
Which in fact when you come to pay it is not 12% at all. Its all the money you've billed, plus calculate the VAT at 17.5%, add it on, and then pay 12% of that.

"Please check weight and use correct postage" Surely they are all the same?
s. Even the PH swear filter makes an exception for the VAT man

has to go
They're obviously mid changeover.
Withdrawal of pre-paid business reply envelopes
HMRC currently provides first class pre-paid envelopes for customers making payments or submitting VAT returns. This practice was introduced when there were no online options.
HMRC has reviewed the practice in light of modern methods of transaction and will withdraw pre-paid envelopes from 1 October 2008, with the exception of those issued for benefits and credits.
This follows the example of other private and public sector organisations which no longer issue pre-paid envelopes. This decision is underpinned by a programme of initiatives to encourage electronic filing and payment which offer more efficient, safer and convenient mechanisms.

The timing of the withdrawal also coincides with work that has already started to extend our ability to offer payment by Direct Debit. Later this year we will plan how to make this facility available to customers who already use some of our online filing services.
If businesses still wish to submit returns and cheques in hard copy, the postage is tax deductible.

That's how mine is.Surely they are all the same?
I'd be bloody pissed off if I have to put a stamp on it, however not as much as they would this quarter. They'd have to send me a cheque for the VAT back form the stamp I used, its all I've done this time. Without that stamp they'd have to do nothing.

The Inland Revenue were speaking at a practice conference I attended last week. The basic gist is that they want everything done online as soon as possible.
