Sort of following on from the 50 places NOT to see thread...

Last week I had the misfortune to spend eight of my hard earned whole English pounds to visit the Sea Aquarium on The Cobb at Lyme Regis.

Now, whilst I wasn't expecting Sea World, I was expecting a little more than what basically amounts to a stone shed fitted with a bath tub with some mullet floating in it.

As I pointed out to my wife afterwards, I would have rather lost the eight quid than wasted three minutes of my life standing in a shed looking at a bath tub full of small fish.

I think that, given time, I will overcome the financial loss however am angry that I can never reclaim that time biggrin

Anyone have any other tourist attractions NOT worth visiting?

Black Country Museum - you pay a load to get in, and then to do anything worthwhile once you are inside you need to start buying further tickets. Biggest rip off going mad

Where's that? I've never heard of it.

Why pay to get into the Black Country Museum when you can get exactly the same experience simply from driving through Cradley Heath.

The Space Centre in Leicester is particularly rubbish. Lots of big toilet rolls made to look like some obscure rocket from 1962. Blue Peter should sue them for breach of copyright.

The sea life centre in Bournemouth is equally bad.

a'tually, now its the O2, its not bad, some half decent restaurants, a reasonable exhibition space, and a pretty good concert venue.
Parkings a rip off though.

The London Aquarium - expensive, grotty, smelly and uninspiring.
Torture Museum in Antwerp - almost fraudulent, a couple of rooms in an old house fille with fake torture devices.
Paris Disneyland - expensive, horrid food, limited attractions, surly staff.
Madame Tussauds - horribly expensive, looking very tired.

Probably one of the best large concert venues I've been to.

Jorvik Viking Centre in York.

You pay to wander around looking at scraggy people, wondering if that smell is because the person next to you cacked their pants.

The eden project. Cost about a million pounds to get in and walk around some plants. Kids thought it was rubbish too.

Agreed. Went there with a season pass. Glad I did because the queue was massive to get in, and the contents were s**t. Left and went to London Zoo, which was miles better.

They should combine the two. Just when 15 Japanese tourists start snapping away at the waxwork Tiger, it snaps its jaws and has Nippon for lunch with a side of Canon DSLR.

Cricket St Thomas Wildlife Park - a pale shadow of what it used to be. The pub there is even worse.

The Bugatti Museum in Molsheim, France. Do not let the name and location fool you, as it did me. My French is not the best, and I erroneously assumed that such a place would be a homage to the great car manufacturer. It's actually a local history museum, complete with monastery, to which Ettore gifted some money many years ago.

To be fair, it did have a Type 57 on loan from somewhere else and a few other bits of memorabilia but your not allowed to see these until the Curator has ensured you've witnessed every other exhibit first. I was obviously not the first to fall into this honey trap.

Went there a month or two ago, having not been since I was a kid, very poor and very expensive for what it is. I had no idea how much it cost and after queuing for 45 minutes or so and then being asked to stump up £50 for two people to walk through an overcrowded waxwork museum (some of questionable likeness), just isn't worth it. I was expecting to pay a tenner, which is all it's worth at most. Absolute rip off - never again.

Agree it is not much cop.

However, Lady B.J.W and I had a fair bit of amusement with the translator machine. We went round on the buggy thing with 'Japanese' selected, much to the annoyance of the very sensible family (all wearing matching kagools) who were sat behind us and who were probably trying to teach their ugly children about Britain in the dark ages.

tussauds is supremely bad once the initial fun wears off being photgraphed grabbing kylie's arse or the queen's tits.

had the sever misfortune of going as part of a stag do as the stag;s dad was coming along. bad bad bad!

add any church/cathedral to the list. seen one, seen em all.
