The Government Rescue Package
Discussion
So, some of the Banks (Lloyds TSB, Royal Bank of Scotland & HBOS) have taken the Government package on offer.
One major condition is that RBS and Lloyds must maintain small business lending and mortgage lending at 2007 levels, significantly above what they're doing at the moment.
Is this going to help?
Clearly, they will have little choice but to comply, but i don't see how it will help? If the banks are happy that the security offered against the loan is strong enough, they're won't lend. So why should they go against their better judgement and lend now?
