For some reason somebody in this building has taken a liking to my post namely a Porsche club magazine.

Not the end of the world as I can get another sent, I left a note where the post is left kindly asking whoever took it to return it and they stole the note too, WTF?

Anyway what can I do about this, I read on another thread that somebody had managed to setup so that somebody elses post was to be collected from the post office and I reckon that could be handy as they can't nab it if it's not left within their grasp. How do I go about setting that up then?

the royal mail employs thieves all year round, our local sorting offfice has `lost` many items over the last year or so.
The manager even admitted to me that the items I had stolen could only have been stolen by one of the sorting staff, but couldn`t prove who it was(wasn`t bothered,actually0
Plod weren`t intrested either!!
The whole company is rife with dishonesty, from top to bottom.

True. I had an Amazon package never arrive, its replacement never arrive a week later and the replacements replacement never arrive either. The customer service women at amazon said it was a common problem. Collected in bulk by Royal Mail but never gets to the customer. No one else could have 'lost' it.

Or how about they tried to deliver a package, I wasnt in so I got a "come and collect it from us" card.

They never did find it, but suggested that the seller had not sent it...

I believe that's merely a coincidental consequence of the legions of temporary staff they employ over that period.

Six postmen were sacked/suspended at our sorting office the other week for stealing and withholding mail.

Just rub your Porsche Post magazine with Cyanide, then when one of your neighbours dies you know who it was! Job done!

My IAM membership card still has not arrived .... and it's been 3 cards so far.

The first never arrived .... so I phoned them (after about month of so), and they confirmed it was sent. So they sent another that very day. A few weeks pass - and nothing.

So I phoned again - confirmed details, address, etc, etc - all 100% correct (and unchanged). So they sent another - and dropped me an email to confirm as such.

That was about 2 weeks ago ... and still nothing has arrived yet!

Never had a problem before, and the mag arrives every quarter. Really puzzling.

I'd like to name and shame censored sorting office. Before I moved here I never had anything disappear in the post (to my knowledge at least). Since moving to Northampton they've "lost" at least one xmas card (containing £20) and several jiffy bags containing various things.

My mother posted a £175 gold watch via Special Delivery and paid extra for insurance to cover it. SIX MONTHS have now passed since they "delivered" it but somehow failed to obtain a signature. It never arrived, obviously, but they are clearly not planning on paying out the insurance money. They actually had the cheek to send her a book of stamps in compensation...
ETA

Sorry you can't.

I caught the postman red-handed trying to nick my post last year.

The latch on the front door to the building is buggered, so anyone can open the door just by pushing on it. The postman had just been round and this is what he had done, he hadn't bothered trying to put the post through the letterbox, he had just pushed the door open and chucked it on the floor. All, that is, apart from the interesting-looking package addressed to me. He hung on to that.

Fortunately I happened to go out at just the right time to see him a bit further down the street, saw my package in his bag and confronted him about it. He wouldn't hand it over so I went straight down the sorting office to complain and made it clear to him that that's what I was doing. When I got back the package had been delivered.

If it's anything that has to go through the Liverpool sorting office, they will have it!
If it gets past them, the Polish lot that work in the London area put most of it on ebay.

Special Delivery has a £500 standard compensation thingy on it? Surely by their own rules, no signature means no proof of delivery?

If you want post held at your local post office, get them to send it to:

Your name
Post Restante
post office address

It's free and it's a bit like playing the lottery because you don't know if anything is there.
It's also handy if like us your post doesn't arrive until 2pm as it will get dropped off at the post office first thing smile

Ah good stuff.

The other week we got an official bank letter which had been opened and then re-sealed..... Still debating whether or not to get on to the PO about it, and notify the bank.
