Fire regulations in EU Hotels question
Discussion
Am I wrong in thinking that even 3 Star hotels in the EU should have fire exits, fire exit routes marked (as normal) and emergency procedures placed in rooms.
I was also wondering the legality of all the staff leaving the building and locking the Hotel for around 7 hours during the night. (Main door can be opened from the inside) However, no one answers the phones, so if the fire brigade turned up to a fire, who would see the guests to safety and account for the number of guests in the building?
There was also only one way out, via the front door. yet if the fire was in the hallway or the 1st floor, the only other way out would be via your window for the other 2 floors.
Does anyone know this subject?

Hi,
I've just been speaking to my father on this subject for you. He is a member of hampshire fire and rescue (now in a civilian capacity, retired after near on 40 years) and has much to do with fire regulation (he writes the papers that explain new regs)
I have been told that there are no formal EU regulations for hotels. Travel agents here shouldnt' be sending people to hotels that don't comply with the host countries laws.
It is not against UK regulation to have a hotel empty at night (no staff but still guests) so this is not an issue.
Rules on fire escapes and escape routes will be set by the host country, however I have been told that only one method of escape is probably a no-no as is not having clearly marked routes (but then I don't know what country you are after) and maps of escape on your door.
Hope this helps.
