Think its the sort of job I would like to do. Keep you on your feet and hopefully feel as though you were doing something worthwhile. Rummaging through peoples luggage in the hope you might find a big stash of something.
I know theres probably loads of paper work and all that crap to go with it but anybody on here had any experience of it ??

Not personally, but I've worked with people who do. I know theres probably loads of paper work and all that crap to go with it but anybody on here had any experience of it ??
I would think that the biggest challenge is being presented with a vast quantity of stuff, knowing that the bad stuff is in there, and not having the time, money or resources to find it.
Piece of pi55 - I had a mate who worked at Gatwick I think it was quite a few years ago though now - just sat there all night in the green channel on his arse picking out the odd bloke/woman just to relieve the monotony of it all ...
But you get to look important I suppose ... ie he got a uniform and a hat, and a bade and a walkie-talkie thing ...

I applied 20 years ago. At the time I know I couldn't just choose to go on Ports etc. Really wanted to as my mate's dad worked in C&E and thoroughly rated it.
I've known several investigations officers (taught them the basics of advanced riding before their Police courses), they all did their time in VAT Audit etc before getting the glory stuff, which is actually seriously hard work.
HMRC bikes are somewhat harder to spot than BiB mobiles
