Ok, so we have 26minutes till the opening bell. Currently, the daily futures price is -445 @ 8230. Looking like another day of sh!t.

It's a friday, all bets are off on where we end the day.

Expect a couple of rumours to float around, not sure why, but they seem attracted to fridays more than any other day.

Beer and sunshine is my prediction for the day beer

Tank.

Really tank.

Lehman CDS auction isn't due until later in the day - this will reveal how the 'risk' has been spread and who's lost out.... and how it is settled.

Until that. Promising to be interesting.

So your expecting an opening fall of 5.4%... feck!

How would a fall like that impact the FTSE? I guess that this anticipated fall is already priced into the FTSE - or is that purely the falls from yesterday?

This is like a game of pass the st parcel - not a nice game and everyone gets filthy hands.

Could the FTSE end with >12% fall on the day?

Panic, sell, more panicking, more selling, a small bounce then back to panicking and selling again.

The ban on short selling in the US has been lifted, so I imagine the lads are having a bit of a party. Significant bounce on Monday?

I wouldnt be surprised to wake up monday morning and find that our gloriously incompetant guvmint have nationalised ALL banks over the weekend (ie, got control of YOUR money) to help clear the monumental financial log jam they've had a big hand in creating.

As it is they have just nicked £500,000,000,000.00 of our cash and lent it back to us at 7% for the next 25yrs+

I think we've seen the worst now. I predict a global stock market recover inspired by a 1000 point rise on the DOW.

Someone else posted that the Auction starts at 10.30am Eastern Timezone. I bet the markets are eagerly awaiting to see how that goes at best it will hold the markets flat at worst there could be companies going under.

Today could be one of the most interesting days which will be looked back by many future govts.

I wonder how many of the big US Christian s with the "End days" / doomsday is coming very very soon - who might be encouraging this?? Like they encouraged the Jews to buy up/cleanse Jerusalem

Nobody will want to hold stock over the weekend. Must be near the floor though. . . .mind you I've been saying that for 3 days.
