They are down near on 20%.... holy st.

FTSE down 7.6% already and no signs of any change.

Whats the DOW JONES going to do? Is this really the end of the financial markets?

FTSE now well under 4000 points when was it last at this level? 2001? fk thats 7 years of growth down the bin.

Also as we all now had £16k in the banks if Barclays is any way to look at it we have all lost paper losses so far £3.2k! Everyone enjoying this?

Beefy, turn your screen off..... you're not doing yourself any good.

And I think the FTSE was about 3200-3400 in 2003.

Welshie

Just crack open another bottle of Aldi own brand pomagne, slap another chunk of spam on the just-gone past-its-sell by date sliced bread and knit yourself another jumper - the markets will be closed in 10 hours and we can all have a bit of a break over the weekend. In a tent obviously.

So this is all down to the media, as opposed to huge amounts of global leverage being unwound

I think finally the fear/realisation of what is happening is starting to hit people.

Everybody in the UK as tax payers so far today have lost £3.5k of the £16k the Govt invested. Thats a huge loss.

I think one of the red tops should EVERY day on front page just show the current +/-% & £ in tax per person we have gained or lost (from the starting point). I fear we could end up with 0% and then the arabs/saudi's come along and buy us all up.

Anyone think Al Queda might have planned this out? it all started to go boom from the 9/11. Maybe they have some real impact - I wonder if there are any conspiracy sites with this sort of stuff.

here we go, this is the last 8 years... the start of 2003 was the lowest, so we still have some distance to go...

But latest rumour is they are planning on getting together this weekend in an attempt to be able to guarentee inter bank lending... we would then see it spike like a bascensoredard

I suspect the speculators are nailing the banks one by one and making a fortune each time. The more that fall, the easier the next one. They make the billions; the taxpayer gets left with a crock of poo.
