Wealth and meaness
Discussion
In my own totaly unscientific research, in the dark ages when I did paper rounds I did a couple of different rounds in different areas over the years.
One was delivering to large detatched houses in a posh area and one delivering to terraced & semi detached type houses in a normal area.
Bigger Xmas tips from the latter.
Case proven.

I'll go along with that, I used to do charity collections for the RNLI and it was just the same. One was delivering to large detatched houses in a posh area and one delivering to terraced & semi detached type houses in a normal area.

Most of the guys I know who are well off are not that way because of what they earn - it's because of what they don't spend.
Case in point: the Mars brothers used to come over to England 15 years ago (when I worked for that company) and would hire a 1.1 Fiesta to get around in. Their net worth at the time was north of $8billion.

I had the same when I was a kid. The people who gave the most were the little old lady OAP's in one bed flats.ajcj said:

Snag is, even if most of us were careful with our money, we couldn't save $8billion.The lady I work for is a millionaire and she is very generous as well. Although I don't have a big wage I have loads of 'perks'.
However some of her older acquaintances are just like the one the OP described, especially the politician / bank type. Her younger rich friends that I have met are usually more free and easy with their money.
So maybe it's the older generation that are meaner?
