Been signed off work for another 2 weeks for my slipped disc (cant sit or drive). Which means 2 more weeks of possibly doing jack at home getting bored.

Now I hope to be back on the 20th Oct (1 week off) or Thursday / Friday next week. Question is if I go back before the note finishes do I need to get signed back on? Work said, just come back but other people I have spoken to mentioned that I should not because of insurance etc.

Can anyone give a definitive answer?
Cheers

You have to be signed back on by your GP.

Normally they will just re-issue you with a new but shorter Sick Cert.

If you go back without being signed on the Company you work for will technically not be insured to have you on site as you are still signed off as sick.

Your company's employees insurance is invalidated if you're at work and there's a health related incident.

Yep.

A good company won't let you come back to work whilst there is a certificate in place.
