Non UK passport holder booking with Ryanair online
Discussion
Hoping for a bit of help from the collective wisdom of PH. A visitor to the UK wants to accompany me on a trip within Europe - they are a non-UK and non-EU and non-EEA passport holder but they have a valid UK and a valid Schengen Visa. The LyinAir website doesn't appear to let you continue with a booking for two persons if one is non-EU / EEA, though there is an option to continue if this person has a 'travel document' issued by an EU state. Now, if this 'travel document' refers to a passport then there seems to be no way to continue (the website won't let you) but if 'travel document' refers to a valid Schengen Visa then it would be possible to continue. Does it?!
Before I pay for a ticket that will waste money and time by resulting in refusal to board at the airport, what's to do here? Has anybody been through this situation before? TIA.

Just asked the chap next to me at work - he's Australian and his G/F is Irish. They flew to Rep if Ireland last week.
He only has a Aussie passport.
He says he booked online saying that he had an EU passport and rocked up to the LyinAir desk and paid £8 to check in at the aiport, rather than online.
Apparently he can get the money refunded too as the website isn't set up to accept anything other than EU passports and as an Aussie, he doesn't need a Visa to go anywhere other than Eastern Europe.
So I guess it depends on where your friend is from and where you are going!

Opt for check-in at the airport rather than online, and you can get through the system with non-EU/EEA persons. Cheers. As one of us has to check-in normally the other (me) has to check-in likewise . . . do not pass go, do pay Ryanair more dosh, but that's life. Anyway done and dusted already
