A payment to individuals was actually made this year in the US. It was called the "Stimulas Package" but it didn't seem to help.
It was $600 for most people. So $1,200 for me and Mrs M. Can't remember what I did with it
If I or somebody else used it to buy foreign goods it would not have helped much. Seeing as we have so many Chinese imports that's possibly the reason.
