Hey folks,

I'm as savvy on the postal service as I am on the credit crunch and so I am stupidly asking for your help once again.

I need to send a parcel containing a lot of misc. items; they're all light, but at least one of them is about A3 in size.

What would be the best way to go about this, and is the price based upon the size, or the weight of the parcel?

Thanks.

PS. It doesn't matter when it's delivered.

Fold them in half, then in half again, and again, etc...I think the maximum possible is 7 times.
Then they will be really small, and light.

Size matters,if you can't fit your package in the slot at the post office you will pay more.
But if it's heavy you will pay more.

How it works is easy. Parcel it up and seal it. Then you take it to the post office and they'll ask you for some money. After that it's out of your hands.

So basically throw it all in a box and at a one-time throw away price it's not going to cost me my tramp-wagon fare?

Both. Used to be weight was the clincher but now size affects it too.

Okay so say it's a shallow A3 sized box, and the contents consist of almost weightless junk?

www.interparcel.co.uk

online quote, ordering and booking, used them a good few times to send heavy valuable items via dhl, good prices and pick it up directly from your door.

Its a ratio between valume and weight. Something small but very heavy might cost more to send than something with a large volume thats light. However, once the volume exceeds a set limit, its weight can become irrelevant as it then gets calculated on volume alone.

Only the post office can tell you really.

Volumetric weight
lenght x height x depth in cm /6000 = vol weight in KG for courier services.

The dimensions put it into the "packet" category (£1.45 1st class)
