Give an inch, take a mile?
Discussion
Not the thread your gutter minds might have been thinking
My FIL said the other day that he used to give people the benefit of the dounbt in business transactions, buying things from shops, dealing with tradespeople, business in general and the like, but now he says that times have changed and that he doesnt budge an inch or deal in goodwill when it comes to the above. It seems that nowadays if you give an inch, some people will just take a mile. Or the piss in other words.
Everything is locked down to contracts, and no flexibility, and i'll shaft you before you shaft me and benefit of the doubt has gone out of the window.
Is this true of the wider world we now live in?

And poeple also belive they can behave however they like, so long as there's no CCTV's on them. Sense of responsibility and morals are the thing of generations past.
Completely agree, my school used to have CCTV cameras dotted around the place to catch misbehaving kids, instead of teaching that it's wrong to misbehave and why, just shove a CCTV on them. And poeple also belive they can behave however they like, so long as there's no CCTV's on them. Sense of responsibility and morals are the thing of generations past.
