I have found a lump
Discussion
I have found a lump on my body.
the location is just on my side (whilst looking forward about the 2 o clock position), about in line with my belly button.
it is solid if i put 2 fingers on it and push down with 1 finger the other pushes up, about 1" wide x 2" long.
what is in this area besides a new lump?

Get yourself to the docs.
No, no, give it a few hours, as the PH day shift hasn't come on yet, and they may be able to do an accurate Internet prognosis.
Doctor Zarse at your assistance. If it doesn't hurt then you're likely doomed and going to the doctor is a waste of time. I don't wish to cause undue alarm but if I were you I'd go home and spend what little time I have left with my loved ones.
(Is that the kind of thing you meant Herald?)

Hernia? When you lie down it tucks itself away? Do they run in the family? Have you been lifting heavy objects, although it seems a bit high for an exercise-induced hernia?the location is just on my side (whilst looking forward about the 2 o clock position), about in line with my belly button.

You've never been to the Doctors before have you?

You might need an ickle operation and time off work
That better for you? Get down the Docs. I hear there is a new one there and she is fit!I used to have one. i stopped the excessive ab work in the gym, and it's currently "hibernating", which is very unusual. Yours wont go away.
Think I will phone up and see who my doctor is my last retired about 3 years ago, only been twice to docs in last 10 years, once to get signed off for glandular fever, next a week later to get signed back on to go back to work.
does not disapear when I lie down or sit down can feel it now, does not hurt when I push it,
not done any lifting in a few months used to go gym every day but stopped about 4 months ago as i did not have the energy to carry on after just 5 min excerise.

Options:
1) NHS direct. Who, not being able to see you or your lump, will refer you to the doctor.
2) Doctor
3) See 1) and 2)
I'm sorry, but even with the benefits of everyone's collective skills and massed knowledge on Pistonheads, or even a medical forum, what did you expect the answer to be?
Internet forums are good for random information, car model advice, tech troubleshooting, reference material, stocks, shares, illness support (once diagnosed), pictures of naked people and the news. Not being a doctor replacement... ;-)
