1st prize to any one that can suggest a solution before I strangle the cats or surgically remove all their claws with a pair of pliars:

How do you stop a cat digging up the carpet behind doors etc? For example, you close the bedroom door at night and in the morning she starts scratching the outside of the door & frame, and digs up the carpet. You go in the shower, and same treatment - bathroom door gets reduced to wood shavings.
Over a period of months, we've tried chasing her away when she does it, have tried ignoring her, and have tried some of these sprays that claim to stop them scratching furniture and stuff. Any new ideas?

Cat Flaps. . .everywhere!

Might be worth asking a cat behavior expert - if they exist that is?

hehe
That way I get to eat 4 tubes of smarties every time she does it smile

Please don't suggest laminate flooring - SWMBO has already 'hinted' at that this morning. (So I'll be off to B&Q later.....)

The stone tin is worth a try, so is the tin foil.

You can get those citric sprays, that works for short periods I've found. Or even resort to the plug in the wall pheromone things, they calmed my two down when we moved house.

Mine got me up at half eight this morning doing just what you described... I think they'll be sleeping in the garage next weekend.

I've got 36g of 5s that will solve your problem? Delivered via shotgun hehe

May make a mess of your carpet though wink

Yes I also hate cats, any creature able to withdraw and deploy claws at will is not to be trusted!

Best solution we have found for our 3 are "soft claws".
There are a little cap that gets glues ontop of the claw. Sounds worse than it is, as the cap comes off naturally when the claw sheds.
You can get them off Ebay UK, but its cheaper to get them off ebay US,even with the postage.Think we pay about £18 for two boxes of fourty.(inc P+P)

They still try to scratch but have no sharp claws to damage items. And if they sit on you lap, it doesnt hurt when they bed onto you.

Also helps if your cat is not mr angry as you have to just take of the very tip of the claw first, then stick the cap on.

Designed by a vet in the US.
Try not to piss yourselve laughing when you see the pics, our 3 cats are BIG males, 2 of them jet black, they look funny with bright blue claws!

Combination of sharpening claws and attention seeking I think.

Have you got a scratching post? The cat is going to do that whatever, just try to control where...

That's not on at all.

Cats rely on their claws for defence, traction, grip etc.

If you can't live with cats scratching at your doors / carpets / furniture, then don't have cats as pets.

I hate to think what you put the cat through every time you glue those things to it - ours would tear you to shreds rather than let you do that to them.
