There are plenty of places, but nowhere that is both cheap and safe. Your best bet is somewhere down by the markets; http://maps.google.co.uk/?ie=UTF8&ll=53.798078...

If you're on your own and are going to be in town for a while, park somewhere free near Headingley or Burley Park station and get the train in.

Anyhoo, there's loads of car parks and spaces, what are your specific requirements?

I find following these to be a helpful source of parking information when entering an unfamiliar town

Only place I will leave my car in Leeds, although you will queue to get in on a Saturday.
Is like the most expensive place too.

Merrion is the cheapest multi-story.

Never been to Leeds, but a trick that has worked well in every other city I've been to is to get up early in the morning, if you arrive a bit before the shops open then that's about right. Do your shopping and be driving out past all the queues of people trying to get in.

I tended to use the Woodhouse Lane multi storey rather than the Merrion - it's safer (Council owned and run with CCTV and full time wardens) but, more importantly, if you're approaching the city from the East, you can get straight in from the dedicated exit on the inner ring road instead of queuing in the city-centre traffic. It's 10 minute walk (via the Merrion Centre) into the main shopping areas, though.

I dunno - I work down on City Walk (near Bewley's) and I leave my car on those big open "waste" areas - 3.50 a day during the week. I've never seen anyone wandering around the cars (I can see my car from my desk), and they have the added advantage that you get loads more space between the cars than you do in a multi-storey (in fact when I was parking up the other morning a burd pulled up next to me and car park bloke made her move and leave a bigger gap smile)

Having said that I wouldn't be wanting to leave it there at night and I have no idea what weekends are like.

Depending on when you come, you could park at my girlfriends and then pay £1 on the bus to get into town. Plus you'd get me keeping an eye on your car hehe

I second that, and at £7.50 all day (well till 9pm at least) it's not too pricy.
