Same thing happened to me when I had a Cooper S.

I replaced them with rubber ones which were not stolen.

Have you been to Newcastle lately? They took a liking to mine up there.

They dissappear all the time.

Pikey trick allert here though. At the end of the racing day take an amble over to where Dunlop/Avon/etc have had their trucks parked up over the weekend. You will always see loads on the floor and 10 minutes sees you with 4 or 5 new sets.

Much easier than trying to get your tyre fitter to remember to keep your caps/ worrying about it when a pikey has knicked them off the car. Always have a spare set with the fuses and bulbs.

I believe that 10PS has some for sale, try asking him if he would like to sell them back to you.

Buy another set, sharpen them with a file and smear them in dogsh' t.

Most satisfying to come back to find blood everywhere.

I had them on my old ST-200. After dark on the day I put them on the car I took the rubbish out to the bin and noticed the PIR flood lights had switched on by the garage. Caught some teenage kid crouching next to the car with his bike at the end of the drive - was one of the neighbours kids and he claimed he was just looking at the car. Flea in his ear and he went on his way.

Next morning I noticed my new 'alloy effect' dust caps were gone... His mum/dad were very defensive and claimed he'd been home all evening, so I walked away and said no problem I'd just have to phone the Police. 2 mins later his mum came running up the drive with the missing caps and spluttering that he'd sneeked out and they knew nothing about it and he was a good boy really. hehe

In the end they were nicked when tyres were changed at a branch of 'like to think they're fast quick'. Came back to collect the car and found standard plastic caps had been fitted. The 'manager' checked with the fitter who claimed there were no dust caps when he started working on the car, and they just shrugged it off by saying some scrote must have nicked them earlier... However, I'd washed the car that morning and driven straight to 'sh!t fit' for the tyres. mad

must be a week for it, i parked my car in Chapel Street in Melbourne last week and came back and noticed all my valve caps were gone. I wouldn't have minded if they were crap ones but these were nice hex style ones. Oh wells, i just went to my tyre fitters and scooped a handful of the metal ones as spares.

You can get warts burnt off you know. No need to cover them up with stolen dustcaps.

makes me laugh that someone risks a beating to steal some £3 valve caps.

However, ultimate advice here must be - dont be such a GJOB and use plastic ones. I think my alloy ones on my old MG years ago lasted 2 days - I didnt bother again.

Plastic ones are better as the metal ones can corrode on after a little while if you're not careful!

I had a nice set of chrome effect metal hex dust caps on the Seat, which lasted about 3 months, before they disappeared one night! And yes I do live in Newcastle.

However, don't do make the same mistake I did. Bought a set of alloy ones off ebay, fitted them to the car. A month later went to check the tyre pressures and they had seized onto the valve. Dissimilar metal corrision anyone?

Tried all sorts to get them off, and in the end had to cut them off with a dremel. Now I have four plain black plastic caps!
