I finished my PhD. yesterday

handed in the thesis, four years work in about 300 pages. took a while to print out. glad I finally finished. Now I can sleep and have a social life again!

Actually he is, as it is the medical types who are not real doctors, as they have an honorary doctorate and not the real thing. The real thing requires a contribution of new knowledge, whereas 99.9% of what a mediocal doctor learns, other doctors already know.

Hope the viva goes well - mine was a 40 minute chat - by an external eaminer who clearly hadn't bothered to read it....

The only time my PhD has been useful (apart from the obvious one of getting a job) is to impress the bank to allow them to extend my overdraft.
