I have this book. It's about salt. The history of the use and trade of salt. Doesn't sound interesting but it is.

Now, some people have ripped the royal piss out of me for a couple of years for even entertaining the idea that salt is interesting, thus I am Sadly McSad.

What subjects have you found interesting but classify you as a wee bit nerdy or tttish?

Maybe we can have a group hug of cardigan wearers, but if you knock the sellotape from my glasses I will be forced to throw a 6 and a 4 and knock out your warlock with my orc legions.

To be honest, the sole thing that gets the piss mercilessly ripped out of me by SWMBO and friends is my patronage of motoring forums. Not just this one- Their special pisstaking is reserved for my membership of MBclub.co.uk. getmecoat

Despite never having owned a Mercedes and being unlikely to need to own a car in the near future, I have subscribed since 2005 and attended a weekend away in Torquay getmecoat

In my defence I was looking to buy a CLK at the time getmecoat

Lots of things, yes, I have the book on roundabouts ....

I like motorways and info about them - and service stations ... lots of good websites out there - tales of motoways that never were - strange, blanked off slip roads etc, all good stuff.

Nothing *that* weird ...

I also like routing on t'net finding old film and TV locations ... then and now's if you get me ...

I also play online chess (along with other PHers) which the wife thinks is sad ...

she's maybe right there

Odd, and unfair, how very different that would sound coming from a 40 something bloke.

I had (well technically still DO have as they're selling at the moment) a large collection of Star Wars and Lord of the Rings statues, busts etc.

Doing a job lot on ebay right now to get shot of it all as I a) don't have the space b) can't ignore the money tied up in them and c) am not really that interested in them anymore.

You'll be interested to know there is a wharf on the Bolton arm of the Manchester Bolton & Bury Canal, named "Salt Wharf" as it received salt deliveries from Cheshire (presumably along the Weaver).

Its here:

There you go, something you didn't know!

I thought I was the only one paperbag

Clearly we're not alone though, judging by the amount of websites on the topic there are sad buggers EVERYWHERE

My library of martial arts books isn't bad... in the event of an intruder breaking in, I will throw my hardbacked ones at his head.
