Thankfully, most spiders prefer seclusion and will only attack when provoked; mind, having a nest I'd say the girl was very, very lucky.

Just to scare Cloggy:

Spiders kill at an astonishing pace. One Dutch researcher estimates that there are some five trillion spiders in the Netherlands alone, each of which consumes about a tenth of a gram of meat a day. Were their victims people instead of insects, they would need only three days to eat all sixteen and a half million Dutchmen.

Taken from "Spider Women" by Burkhard Bilger.

Well, female spiders seem to go on the 'consummate then consume' with their partner. Not so sure this would be repeated with the human-kind though. wink

Oddly enough, one the directors in my work (also Edinburgh) was apparently bitten by a red back spider in his home. WTF?

Brazilian wandering spiders are VERY dangerous and aggressive. If you upset one, it will go after you. Responsible for most spider-bite deaths.

expects me to piss around for several minutes waiting for a fking video, instead of presenting it clearly and straightforwardly in a page of text that I could actually read. fking BBC.

Yeah, they only have hair in a strip up the middle.
