Saw this and thought it would be a rather nice thing to do, or even by as a gift for someone. Always wondered what being in the rear gun turret of a Lancaster must be like. Anyone been on one of these days, is it a fast taxi run along the length of the runway ? It says tail down, so I'm guessing they go pretty slowly.

When I was a cadet I once got "attached" to the BBMF, and spent a week polishing their Spitfires. The sod who got attached to the Lancaster team got to go up in it when they did an air test - they plonked him in the rear gun turret.

If I was sitting in the rear turret of a Lancaster (whilst it was flying) I'd never be able to resist the urge to yell "Corkscrew port Skip" into the intercom.

Closest I got was a few trips in the Shackleton, sitting in the front gunners position with the gun joystick and ammo belts either side of me made me realise what a buzz it must of been. (guns had been removed)
