Man up, buy a chainsaw and do it yourself.

This is what we did, admittedly we didn't have neighbours cars ect to worry about, but it was fun. And since that time, we then logged our woods annually for fire wood biggrin

They want £1100 to cut a tree down, which is potentially at least two full Winters' worth of free fuel! confused

On a very serious note I wish you were nearer as I have felled a lot of trees and desperately need some wood for winter.

I'd have done the job for not that much money at all.

A friend of mine was quoted £150 to remove a 40ft tree from the bottom of his 20ft garden. We decided to do it ourselves and it took pretty much all weekend. £1100 seems steep, but a 120ft tree would require a bit of effort to remove.

problem is two fold wife will not let anyone near it who is not insured and also if anything were to go wrong it could end falttening half of next door's outbuildings! This does include chopping into splitable chunks, but even so...

it may even be bigger, it is a big boy, it also splits into three and according to weirdo Norfolk tree surgeon it has to come down in sections...
