Chaps,

Simple one for most probably, just that I don't know where to start with this sort of thing.

I need to post a package to some friends in the US. (Washington DC).

It's clothes, and weighs a couple of kilos.

This will cost me a FORTUNE if done via Royal Mail.

I presume there are other options - other carriers (/couriers). There is no rush; they can arrive any time in the next month or so, but need to get there.

What couriers do people recommend? How do I access their services? (Royal Mail have easy-to-use Post Offices on many high streets, which other courier companies don't ... )

If it's under 2kg then post office probably the best bet, however if it's (even slightly) over then shop around.

Silly as it sounds it may work out cheaper as two parcels if for example the total weight is 3kg but you split it into 2 x 1.5kg.

Tell me about it, Mrs Cloggy had the bright idea to send a parcel containing tea bags to her friend in the US (approx £4 worth).
She asked me to post it in the post office and I had to pay £21 postage. yikes
Silly cow.
