Gordon Brown has opened Labour's annual conference in Manchester with a pledge to do "whatever it takes" to sort out Britain's financial system.
Whatever it takes, eh? scratchchin Isn't he just setting himself up for being ousted/having to have his entire party hand the keys to the country (and its economy) across to someone who actually knows how to do the simple sum of income - expenditure when it comes to public finances? Or doesn't just sit there watching while the economy heads towards oblivion at gathering pace whilst bellowing "prudence"?

Brave words from the &*!$^*%£.

Prudence would have been an effective approach 3-4 years ago. It's a bit late now!

Whatever it takes? Well resignation would be a good start. Calling a General Election would also seem logical. Prudent my arse.

"Whatever it takes...", eh Gordon?

Well, there's resignation, calling a General Election, or worst case scenario...

thumbup Beat me to it!

I can't be the only one, shirley, upon hearing about some 'terrorists' that had been arrested for plotting to assasinate Brown, to think that it would be better all round if we were to give them some assistance instead??

Bugger, that's me on the MI5 'watch' list then.....

Also a radical, but unpopular idea, if you run a bank.

Trouble is, if Brown goes then Milliband looks favourite to take over from him and, from what I've heard of him he's even more anti car than Brown.

What it will take, Gordon, is for you to call an election.

And just think of all that time he waited in the wings prodding and poking the greasy grinning one, only to completely fk it all up now it's his.

Prick.

I'm no fan of Brown but I do find it rather amusing that some people seem to think sticking a different brand of useless muppet in the hot seat would resolve the inevitable economic meltdown.

"whatever it takes" is the type of thing you say when you really haven't a clue how to solve a problem

I think the press forgot to mention the bit after that where he said "...and if you have any suggestions could you please put them in the box at the back of the hall on your way out. Not you Darling".

Whatever it takes is a bit extreme, He's only got to do the fairly simple task of fking off.

What difference will him 'fking off' actually make? Other than satisfying the natural urge of people to get rid of a loser that's in charge of them that is.

Replace him with another impotent loser unable to do anything about the situation?

You'll all be stealing Erno's nose in another 6 months.

All this wasted effort and vitriol is deflecting attention from the really important subject. The piss poor state of 'UK plc'.

Except we would be OK if a certain lard arsed greasy battered sausage eater hadn't spaffed all our spare tax cash on NHS middle management and PR consultants.

It's not that we know someone who could do better; we don't know anybody who could do worse.

Excuse my ignorance in all things political, I always feel I'm missing some vital bit of info so don't generally comment... am I right in saying that Labour's worry about whether Brown or someone else should be their leader is a waste of time; that they should be worried about the fact that they are simply st?

I'll admit that the only reason I said "worst case scenario" is that I didn't want to be seen as someone calling for his actual death.

dont get me wrong i wasnt calling for his death but if the pressure got too much and he hung himself i would see it as more of a good thing than a bad one, not a very nice thing to say and i could count the people on one hand i could say it about but Gordos on there.
