Online Sharedealing accounts
Discussion
I'm with III currently and have had various problems recently such as:
I went online yesterday to buy HBOS shares (at £1 a share) and although Ihad the cash in the account, it reported it couldn't get a buy price. After 2 hours of trying, their sharedealing service seemed to be closed for part of the afternoon.
Two days ago, I had a similar problem and put a buy limit on some shares - this didn't execute even though the shares dropped below the price for several hours.
Today I went to sell some shares and again coudln't get a market price, so had to elave an open sell order. It took until 2pm this afternoon until they were sold.
My experiences with III recently have been a disaster. Is this a general problem for teh past 2 days because I've been trading in bank shares or are there online accounts that actually allow me to buy and sell reliably and not hope they don't fail?

if you are disciplined enough to manage a margin account. I would suggest IGIndex.. comprehensive trading platform, ability to manage account, place stops and limits.. just don't get too carried away.. or carried out.
Thansk. In suggesting I go for an Imargin account, are you saying that I'm likely to have similar problems with all online stockbrokers, hence that would be the best option?Looking at online reviews of various brokers, it appears to be a common problem that during market volatility you can only sell shares using their best price service, where you have no idea what value the shares will achieve and they could be sold hours from teh time you leave the sell request. Are tehre any online stockbrokers who always allow isntant trading at a given price?
