Doesn't recorded delivery mean that some one has to sign for it? Won't the PO have a record of who did this?

You should have a tracking number on the receipt. go to royalmail.com and there is a track facility.

Tracking number will be something like WERG123456GB.

go to the royal mail website and type the recorded delivery number into the box on the front page. if you're luckly you'll even get a copy of the receiver's signature

From the Post Office, eh?

Well I never.

Amazing what they can do now.

I'd never have thought it.

Go to post office website and click on track and trace - the ID number is on your receipt.

thanks guys sent it 10days ago this is what its just come up with now on the royal mail website

We have tried to deliver your item from our Delivery Office before 07:46 on 12/09/08 and we have left a while you were out card.

You can arrange a redelivery online, call the number on your card to arrange a re-delivery, or collect the item from your local enquiry office by bringing your card and proof of identification and address.

i take it this means it hasnt been collected or signed for ?

No one was in, so they left a card stating to go to the post office to collect it.

Im unsure if this will stay the state if he has collected or not.

It means it's sitting at the depot waiting to be collected. If not collected it will be returned.

It could be possible that they forgot to leave a card, in which case the receiver won't know to collect it.

Don't get me started on Royal Mail. I genuinely hope they go out of business and all their executive staff die horribly from some exotic flesh-eating disease.
