I'm wondering if you good people can you help with a quick vote...

It'll take 30seconds, tops...

My company has launched a new product at this years PLASA show.

Unfortunately, so has one of our rivals.

The internet version of an Industry Periodical has a 'vote for the sexiest console' poll,

Can you copy this link into your browsers: http://www.prosoundnewseurope.com/index.php?option... and click DiGiCo SD8 and click vote (if the site promts you to enable cookies, just ignore it and vote anyway)...

The reason I ask for your generosity is that our rivals have employed 2 people to sit at computers and vote, all day, for their product (i know this, one of my mates works there!!)...

My justification: if both comanies are cheating, that's OK isn't it...

Many, many thanks guys!!

Break the link. They'll see the "referrer" and, if they want the poll to be honest, not count them. Post an address for peeps to cut-and-paste.

Surely it'd take the adjudicators about 30 seconds to realise that all the votes have come from one location?

If it doesn't forbid multiple votes from the same IP, can't you just set up a macro?

Done, as I'm nice... So, what the jimminy-Cricket is a desk thingy? Literally a desk, or some sort of program? 9Sorry, can't be arsed looking, but I did vote for you, so fairs fair).

I might vote for the other one as I don't want to be seen in a similar light to that of Scottitch.

Tell your mate to vote for your company. Not only will you get all his votes, but he would be paid by your competitor for the priveledge hehe

yes

Use anonym.to to prevent all the votes looking like they're referred from here, then dob the other company in to that magazine and get their desk taken off the poll as their fake votes will be obvious. Job done thumbup

That sounds awfully complicated. I think I'll have a cup of tea instead.

It's a baby digital mixing console, based around one big fk off FPGA...

We made a big one at 100K, now we plan to take on Japan (Yamaha) and America (the cheating opposition)...

We're a solely ikkle BRITISH company, where the others are all conglomerated big money corporates...

It is just part of how the internet works; when you click a link your browser sends a request to a site for a particular page, just like when you type an address in. But it also sends other info, like "Who's asking?" as the "referrer". If the peeps administering the poll want to, they can check these referrer tags and not count the cheaty votes (whether from "us", or his competition).

Enjoy your tea!
