I'm going to the Revival on Saturday and have a period RAF uniform to wear . I've heard that the correct shirt is blue (sounds OK) and the correct tie is black - is that correct ?

yup, certainly post war, not sure what period you are aiming for, although I suspect it was the same anyway (just don't know for sure)

But be very careful which blue for the shirt, not seen many around commercially that colour.

The shirt is a pale blue, best buy from Army surplus and get an origional. THe tie is black polyester and not a fat on just quite slim and cheap.

Shirt is wrong for WWII. It's nearer to an Oxford, with a detachable collar. Pale blue is (IIRC) '50s onwards, not wartime. Also some trade badging changed postwar, and buttons and cap badges went from brass to sta-brite somewhere around that time ish.

Is the badge King's crown or Queen's?
