my wife has been working part time for the same company for 4 years, and has always worked the same hours for the last 3 years. Yesterday out of the blue she was told that her hours were being cut by 75% so effectively reducing her pay by the same amount.

Her contract says nothing about hours, but Iam right in saying she now has regualar working pattern and as such those are her hours.

Is the company able to just cut the hours with no notice, from the net it looks like they should give her 28 days notice of change of her employment conditions.

Can any one tell me if the company has acted within empoyment law, or give me some indication.

Grateful for any help.

thanks

Merritt

Free bump as I can't help but is she fully employed by the company or is she on a long term contract?

Best off phoning an employment solicitor for advice. Explain quickly on the phone for free and take it from there.

If your looking top take it all the way then it'll cost you (win or lose) at least £5000 to get to court.

It could be as an alternative to dismissal if they are cost cutting.
