Best Improvised Game Or Toy Of Your Childhood.
Discussion
They say that children often end up playing with the box that expensive toys come in using their imagination to turn it into a castle/spaceship/fire engine so what was the best improvisation of your childhood?
Mine has to have been bicycle jousting. We raided the bins outside a garment factory for large cardboard boxes and cardboard tubes. We then fashioned the boxes into suits of armour, used the tubes as lances and rode at each other full pelt.
Very soon after inventing this we had to introduce the rule that a knight's page may NOT stick a spare lance through the front wheel of his master's opponentsbike charger.
That little diversion kept us entertained on many summer evenings when children were allowed to play in the street

When me and my bro were younger, we lived on a farm and so had plenty of space to play with. We used to get up to all sorts involving machinery clearly not designed to be operated by pre teens.
Our best invention by far ( besides the "convertable" peugeot 205 and the mobile hotbox Volvo estate :] )was the lawn mower centrefuge.
Dad picked up a Lawnbug ride on lawnmower from a local tractor dealership that had been taken as part exchange. This thing had a 3 speed box and after the throttle was jimmied would hit about 10 leptons. After much general pissing about driving it all over the farm pulling homemafe traillers, we came up with the idea of pulling a buggy attached to about 5 meters of rope. The "buggy" was actually a conventional push lawnmower chassis with engine attached and "bucket seat" so you sat about 2 inches off the deck. The real breakthrough came when we realised that the buggy would swing out on the rope when the Lawnbug was at full bore and full lock. So the lawnbug would be turning on a diameter of about 4 meters in the middle doing 10 leptons and the buggy would fly round the outside on the end of the rope hitting about 30 leptons. This was the most amazing "toy" known to a 12 year old.
We stopped playing that game when we got a ramp involved and the buggy disintegrated.....
Happy daze!
