They've let a bad apples through and don't seem to bother counting the ones going out. However they have saved one unfortunate soul from a life of misery :

Nowt wrong with that. You need money to enter the UK now, just like any other developed nation.

Good job UK Immigration.

Isn't gaining entry to the UK along these lines:
  • EU/EEC - very easy
  • Commonwealth - pretty easy
  • Others - harder.

That is indeed tragic.

I'm absolutely disgusted that you should all find this so funny. It took me months to string this dopey bint along online. She turned up with her life savings in hand and then what does she do? Gets binned.

Gutted, I am.

Ah well, looks Arlene from South Carolina just became the next (to be) Mrs Flintstone. She'll get $350 for that trailer of hers hehe

As an aside, I had a training day with a U.K. passport guy the other week.

Spent hours looking at snidey passports that had been confiscated and learned all the ways to spot a dud. The best one I wasn't aware of is that most have a page with raised ink on a page near the photo. Getting a piece of paper and rubbing on the raised ink (like the 'Bank of Enland' bit on a bank note) should cause the colour to come off if it's genuine.

Yup, the ink only comes off on passports.
