Is there a lead that can connect a laptop to an LCD tv? And if so, where would one buy such a lead?
Yes.With laptops and LCDs you have two options first is to get a VGA lead and go from the VGA output to the VGA input on the LCD (will need to set up laptop to output this way) or secondly it may have a S Video out put and your TV may have a S video input so use that instead (VGA is best option).

Whilst S video does support sound the output will be from your graphics card which doesnt.
Its such a bulls
t way of connecting your laptop thru a VGA cable .
I have been using this since 2004 to watch films on the telly and I found that its nearly not worth the hassle .
The laptop graphics card doesnt always remmebr the settings to have the tv as 2nd monitor and so on .
Best way is to use your laptop as media server and xbox or ps3 as the playback device .
The ps3 is the better of the 2 as it has alot more codecs dont qoute me on that as i havent used the xbox for over a year now

My laptop has an HDMI socket on it, gives a great picture and lets me display at 1080p, great stuff.
Have another PC next to my TV which is using a VGA cable but I don't know whether it's due to its age or restrictions of VGA but it doesn't support any decent resolutions and is just more hassle than it's worth so I've taken to playing videos through the xbox streamed from my main PC.
