Anyone been to Correljo, Fuerteventura?
Discussion
Been to Fuerteventura twice - both times stayed at Caleta de Fuste halfway down the eastern coast near Puerto del Rosario. Corralejo is very much the 'British' end of the island, though not as noisy. Should be nice, clean and fairly cheap. Make sure you rent a car and tour the island - well worth doing in my opinion
. Temperature should be in the mid twenties, maybe a bit of a breeze occasionally, nothing more severe than that though.
ETA: Make sure you go for the all-inclusive deal - well worth shelling out the extra notes for.

Went their by accident in Feb, The missus was in charge of holiday arrangements. I found the place absolutely awful. loads of bars with coronation street themed breakfasts etc, and perma tanned club singers.
Fuerta itself, there are very pretty parts, But hire a car. We lasted one hour in Corralejo, at which point I bought the missus a double vodka, myself a double whisky, found a privately owned apartment near Caleta in a seaside hamlet, and decamped there!
If you would like the details I will happily PM them to you. This year I am in charge of the holiday arrangements, and we are going snowboarding in the French Alps !

My thoughts also, it's worse than Blackpool!, we spent an afternoon there and it was to long, had a bloody rude smelly timeshare tout who stank of booze shout & swear at her indoors & the kids when we politely said no to his offer of a free bottle of wine & a tour, He didn't think it funny when I spread his nose all over his face & shirt.

Have been a couple of times, down south are the best (and quite amazing beaches) although morro Jable is very german. Is perfect if you want to do watersports (as per extremeholidays), especially down flag beach. Boat trips are quite good, but get the ones that stop on the island (walk to the top of the (half) volcano is really quite something). Correljo does have some really good restaurants, but they are mostly based on the waterfront.
Northern Furteventura and southern Lanzarote have a micro climate which is better than the rest of the Canaries on average. Expect warm sunny days and a constant trade wind, with the possibility of hot muggy weather if the wind shifts to the east and blows in from the Sahara.
Corralejo is a s
t-hole IMO. We went there somtimes twice every year for over a decade with the kids, not because we liked the resort itself, but because the beaches and weather in spring and autumn are unbeatable. It's grown out of all recognition in the last 15 years - from a tiny fishing village with a few good restuarants and basic self catering accomadation to a huge sprawl of villas and tacky shops and themed pubs. The place is dirty and run down in places and the main street is a garish neon lit strip full of karokie pubs and Irish bars.
If you go buy a map and hire a car. Vist the sand dunes outside Coralejo. El Cotillo is a must - go north of El Cotillo for tiny sandy bays and south for a massive beach with Atlantic breakers - and Bentancuria in the middle of the island. Calletta de Fuste (now called Calletta) is just as bad as Coralejo with the added bonus of aircraft noise.
It's more up market in the south and full of Germans - which is a good thing - keeps the British Chavs out. There's a fantastic beach stretching all the way from Jandia for about 25km's along the eastern side of the island.
Don't expect a classy holiday experience. The two resorts are over run with and cater for English and Irish football strip wearing morons.
If you can ignore all the downsides, get away from all the scumbags, love the more remote beaches and the fantastic weather you'll have a good time. Chicargo Rock Cafe in the main street had some really good live bands.

Not the best place in the world, but as everyone says, hire a car and drive it like it's stolen.
I was pootling along at 1.1 leptons when a dust devil came skipping over the road. I booted it and drove straight through, that was a fun moment.
There's a good water park at the north end of the island, and you can park at the end of the airports runway and have the planes land over you. I expect this isn't any girlfriends idea of fun though.

Both my kids learnt the basics of driving in Furteventura. I even got my (then) 12 year old daughter doing handbrake turns in a 900cc Fiat Panda hire car on the gravel tracks near El Cotillo.
After several demonstrations from Daddy and lots of practice she got pretty good at them by the end of the fortnight

been to fuerte on several occasions now, and from my experience, if you want something where it is home from home, then corralejo is the place to go.the sand dunes are ok, and for windsurfing it's alright. caleta is more family orientated, but there are a couple of really good tapas bars in caleta. there is a fantastic bar in caleta where they do the most amazing sangria, and I can't remember the name of the bar, it was so good ! The best thing about fuerte are the beaches especially down at morro jable and jandia. not many brits down that part of the island. another part of the island that is rather unpopulated is the west atlantic coast. If you like surfing, it's great. beaches are nice, very windy, but still warm. just make sure you hire a car - make sure it's a 4x4 as well. you'll be able to explore more of the island. In november you should be ok. T- shirts ? maybe.
