Look on the bright side, it could have been a crack addict with a pistol and a penchant for men. biggrin

Yuk. How big is it and what did you do to rid yourself of it?

When in Cyprus 3 years ago, I found a "tarantula" type of spider in the downstairs loo in our apartment. It was probably about 4 inches across (legs) and was properly thick in both the body and legs. Scared me half to death. I'm not normally scared of spiders - I'll pick them up and chuck them out of the house - but whereas I feel entirely comfortable about living through an exchange with a British spider, I didn't know what to expect by the way of an early death from this one.

In the end I subdued it with a half can of ant-spray, sprayed into the loo, then battered it with a dustpan. I took pictures of it beforehand... from a reasonable distance of course. No need to be too brave. smile

I think they prefer to be called African American Widow spiders.

I'll stick to England thanks, we have bumblebees. That's about as bad as it gets.

This didn't happen in the States but I'm sure we have them here.

I was shirtless and a small flourescent green frog jumped and attatched itself to my chest with its sucker type feet.

I'm really glad it wasn't videod biggrin

Black Widow, you say? Pah - girly spider.

The Brown Recluse is the one you need to worry about.
