Had a minor clearout last week on Ebay. All items finished yesterday, so checked this morning and payment is in for all but one item. That's fine by me, I don't mind waiting but i clicked on the buyers feedback (15 positive) and see that most of the positive feedbacks state that the buyer didn't pay. So I'm now thinking that my chances of receiving payment are pretty minimal.

I'll wait 7-days and then raise a dispute and hopefully get my fees back and go throught the whole tedious process again. But what I want to know is why EBay lets this happen? Surely a consistent non-payer should be bannded from Ebay all together, no?

The thing is though, I bet you'd contact the seller and explain. I admit this guy hasn't even had 24 hours to pay yet so there may be a fuss about nothing but I've had similar in the past where I literally had no contact at all. The whole system seems flawed but at the moment, there doesn't seem a better place to sell your junk for reasonable money. I just wish it was less hassle.

Hmmmm, that's interesting. Might just pursue that.

isnt there an instant payment required option on a buy it now price. ie if someones goes for the buy it now they have not 'won' until the payment has gone through.

I had this on a coat i won and untill I actually paid for it, the item was still for sale. Think it only works with a buy it now option.

That option has to be set up by the seller.

I have just been left negative feedback by a non paying bidder for not sending him my address.

The fking address is on ebay when you use checkout thats what its there for. The silly little barsteward also sent me some abusive emails and obviously couldn't read the 2 messages I sent him with my address in.

Ebays new system must attract half wits.

Some months ago eBay had a new CEO, and I understand he is the one responsible for these changes, namely sellers unable to leave negative FB, and unable to list unless they accept Paypal.

After building up 280 FB, I was hit by two pikeys in two sales, both of whom, when I opened a dispute for non-payment, started whining that the products were broken. bks - if the products had really been broken they'd have said so when they got them, not two weeks afterwards. Then they paint you to look dishonest, leave you -FB and get away scot-free. So yes, the precious 'eBay community' does seem to be riddled with scum now.

No more eBay for me. Well done new CEO. wr.

Does that mean you sent goods out without receiving payment first?

I've just had paypal take payment back off me , no idea why , item was sent first class with proof of post and buyer never emailed me with a problem and in fact has left positive feedback, guess he just didnt want to pay for it.

Wont be using Ebay for selling any more

Not quite that simple! The first was a cash sale of a washing machine to a fat butch lesbian. She came round with her g/f and just lifted the whole damn thing straight into the back of her 4x4! I had started the auction at £75 then dropped it to £70, which was the final sale price. She gave me £65 saying 'you dropped it by a fiver didn't you' and foolishly I didn't have the paperwork so took it. I mailed her later saying 'Excuse me, error, please send missing £5'. She ignored me for 2 weeks until I filed a dispute, at which point she said the hoses were split (they weren't) and the machine didn't work (it did when I took it out).

Second bloke was a prick from start to finish. He won the item (a cooker hood) then failed to send payment, saying he didn't want to be 'ripped off'. WTF? Said he didn't have a chequebook. So after two weeks I opened a dispute. Eventually he rang me and was as nice as anything, and soon afterwards his cheque appeared...hmm. So I cashed it and posted the hood. Then he started sgging me off in the dispute and saying the hood was 'tat' (but didn't say how or why) and just left -FB.

For some reason I was unable to leave FB for him, even +ve. I mailed eBay and at first they said it was cookies, then they said it was something tecchy at their end, then they said if I sent my comments they'd post them for me... none of which happened. And of course by then the 60 days was up and the scumbag had got away with it.

Both buyers were (0) FB, although the first one told me she was 'familar' with eBay so I assume she'd already had one account closed and was starting again with a clear history. It's a scammer's paradise now. What pisses me off is the way that dishonest people look clean and honest people get smeared.

I just buy stuff there now. Not sold anything for a long time. Is the consensus still ok for buying on ebay?

You can set sales up to only accept bids from people with a certain level of feedback. This is what I do, and as yet haven't had too many problems. However, I haven't sold too much stuff of late, as I had a big clear out last year, and don't have too much to sell now.
