So, for the past 2 and a half months I've been working with this complete cocktard.

He's a lying, devious toe-rag who delights in spreading rumours and generally creating disruption.

I've recently found out that he's created a massive issue out of a conversation that I had with a couple of team-mates regarding promotions. Ended up with my Global head giving me a bit of a kicking about it - it's pretty much the one negative thing on my appraisal, and likely to be the one thing that stops me getting promoted this year.

Unfortunately, his feedback overall is pretty instrumental to my progression as well...

So, how can I teach the twunt a lesson without him being able to trace it back to me?

This may appear cowardly, but if I confront him about it, he's likely to just tell my manager more crap about me, so I have to be "discreet", yet effective...

And just to add, that he's dropped all of the team here in st at some point with rumours and speculation created by him, and also managed to achieve 120% staff turnover last year....

Sounds like he will hang himself with enough rope. No point in risking your job to get even.

I would quietly document every notable contact and conversation with him and keep evidence of any wrong doing on his part and if you can trust others who are racked off with him to do the same, that makes it even more powerful. Make sure your behaviour is above reproach because he will make counter allegations if he is going down. Wait until you have enough such that the company will have to invoke discipline and then grass him up. If he is lying and you can prove it, won't it be P45 time?

Resign yourself to the truth that you can't teach him a lesson if he doesn't know where the lesson is coming from, and admit to yourself that you are in the wrong job.

In terms of grade, yes - any other way, no smile

I'm in the right job, it's just that he should be in a padded cell.

But doing it might make the OP feel better for doing it anyway

Project management - to be clear, I am only on secondment, so in 6 days its not so much of an issue, but this could well bite me come year end.

His role is less clear - having lost his whole team last year, he's been managed sideways into a "liason" role with no-one reporting to him, and was also promoted at the same time (despite the fact that he has no respect from the management team, and effectively doesn't have a real job anymore).

Balaclava, metal baton, quiet dark evening and some serious but non-life threatening injuries which will keep him off work for a few months.

I think most offices have one of these. Look up NPD (narcosistic personality disorder) syndrome and wonder in amazement as you think the model was written for him!

Hang tight, it can only be a matter of time before he is exposed as a twunt.

The simple answer is not to trust him, and to make him aware of that.

Wipe your bell end around the rim of his cup when hes not looking. Give up showering a few days before for extra effect.

No, you are not. If he is in a position to adversely affect your employment, and there is nothing you can do about it, then you are NOT in the right job.

It's no good (in any situation) saying this is the right situation apart from this one thing that you can't change.

But shirley, if you love your job, location and the rest of the team are ok, why should you allow one idiot to ruin it all?
