http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/london/7601990....

so.. children from 8 years old and upwards are being employed by the council on a voluntary basis to walk the streets? unaccompanied? probably not.. are the parents involved happy about spending their spare time chaperoning their children around for something a plastic policeman could do?

W.T.F?

how does it work I wonder?

do the children get issued with phones? or do they just invoice every month for the cost of calls..?

and this bit:

council gimp said:
We also want local residents to tell us of instances of such anti-social activity," Mr Bettison said.

"No-one wants to see these things in the area where they live. And graffiti can also be racially sensitive."
really makes my piss boil - I can just imagine him saying it in a really earnest, pleading this-is-so-reasonable-how-can-anyone-possibly-object voice... why feel the need to point out that graffiti can be racially sensitive? how about pointing out that equally it often isn't.. and can sometimes be art.. and also mindless dross (think tagging) etc etc why do we tolerate these caants?

Agreed. A step far too far.

I can't imagine BJ going for this daft idea so which London councils are involved I wonder?

Haha i like the way he says that graffiti is bad because it can sometimes (rarely) be racially sensitive, not the fact that is makes a mess of the community (usually).

That gives me an idea. If there is a big load of graffiti in your local area which the council wont hurry up and remove, go out at night and spray 'NIGGERS GO HOME' on top of it. Then see how long it takes to be removed!

So an 8 year old grasses up someone and gets found out. What happens then to the 8 year old or his family? And what happens if the 8 year old is wrong?

Feckin irresponsible council brain donors.

Depending on the area possibly a brick in the face.

Probably depends on the neighbourhood.
Could be benificial in some places.
In the States we have Neighbourhood Watch groups that liase with the police, Adult though.
(We don't have one where I live, not really needed)

UK.......I can imagine the participants possibly getting a hard time at schoolsmile

it makes me wonder.. what about scallies spotting the graffiti spotters at school the next day, making an assumption and bottling them? oddly shortsighted policy IMO smile

If they said it was Saturday the 6th of September, I wouldn't believe the bds.

I don't know what the story is here, but I bet it's nothing like as presented.
